OIT Vulnerability Notification Program
"How can I receive warnings about threats to my computer at the
university?"
You can receive alerts about emerging threats to your computer by
subscribing to the umd-vnp mailing list. To sign up, type
in your e-mail address in the box below (example: johndoe@umd.edu) and hit
the Sign Up button:
This mailing list is dedicated to informing the university community about
newly announced vulnerabilities and other computer threats that are likely
to have an impact on members of the university community (faculty, staff,
and students). Notices can only be posted by members of the OIT Security
Incident Response Team, so you will never receive any random e-mail messages
from other members of the list.
If you successfully subscribed to the list, you should receive an e-mail
from Listserv (Listserv is the computer program that now handles this mailing
list) asking you to confirm your wish to be added to the list--simply follow
the instructions in the message to confirm that you want to join the list.
From that point on, you will receive alerts and information about computer
viruses at the e-mail address you subscribed with.
If you ever wish to UNSUBSCRIBE to the list, send an e-mail message to
listserv@listserv.umd.edu from
the e-mail account where you receive the e-mailed alerts. Leave the subject
line blank and in the text of the message, type unsub umd-vnp
. Remove any other text from the body of the message and then send
the e-mail.
