Error Message After Resetting Your Oracle Calendar Password

The Oracle Calendar client has two operating modes that allow you to work either online (connected to the Oracle calendar server) or off-line (not connected to the server). The online mode allows you to propose meetings or make changes; that appear on the calendar immediately. The offline mode allows you to take Oracle Calendar with you regardless of Internet access. Meetings can be made or changed but updates do not appear until return to a spot with Internet access and you reconcile the two calendars. Please note that while the Oracle Calendar software client has the ability to work online and offline, the web client only offers the online mode.

In addition to the Oracle Calendar client having two operating modes, there is a password for each operating mode. These passwords can be the same or different. Oracle Calendar uses the Directory ID login and password to access the account. When you first login to the Oracle Calendar using the desktop client, the software will use the Directory password as the offline password; however, when you change the Directory password manually, the desktop client can tell the offline/online passwords are different. Oracle calendar desktop clients, prior to version 10 will prompt you to enter both the online password (current) and offline password (old password). Version 10.x notices the passwords are changed and allows you to synchronize automatically the passwords when you first log in after changing your password.

Note: Oracle Calendar version 10.X will automatically match the online and offline passwords so you will not have to reset the offline password manually unless you want two different passwords

  1. Change your Directory ID password by going to https://www.directory.umd.edu/password

    • Select File from the Main Menu then Work Offline
  3. Click on Tools, Change Password
  4. Type your old Directory password
  5. Type your new Directory password
  6. Click OK.
  7. Type the new Directory Password again
  8. Click OK
  9. Exit the Oracle Calendar Desktop client
  10. Restart the Oracle Calendar client
  11. Login using your Directory ID and password. You should not be prompted for an Offline password.
