How to Set up Eudora 6.2 for WAM / Glue

  1. Open Eudora 6.2 and when the New Account Wizard appears click the Next button

  2. Click the radio button Skip directly to advanced account setup

  3. Click the Finish button
  4. This opens the Account Settings window with the Generic Properties tab open
    • Enter your Real Name, Email Address, and Username (first part of email address).
    • Use the following SMTP servers depending on which account you may have:
      PLEASE NOTE: If you use an Internet service provider (ISP) other than the University of Maryland for Internet access, you must use your ISP's SMTP server (http://www.helpdesk.umd.edu/documents/1/1989/) instead of one of the servers listed below.

                WAM: smtp.wam.umd.edu
                Glue/Deans: smtp.glue.umd.edu

    • For Secure Sockets when Sending, choose Required, STARTTLS

  5. Click to select the Incoming Mail tab
    • Use the appropriate server based on your account:
      IMAP
      WAM: imap.wam.umd.edu
      Glue/Deans: imap.glue.umd.edu
      POP
      WAM: pop.wam.umd.edu
      Glue/Deans: pop.glue.umd.edu
    • Configuration: IMAP is strongly recommended
    • Secure Sockets when Receiving, choose Required, Alternate Port

    • Verify all settings are correct then click OK
  6. Eudora will now ask for your password

If IMAP was chosen then there will a heading of Dominant in the mailboxes window. Right-click on Dominant and select Refresh mailbox list. This will display all the mail folders available on the mail server.

NOTE: You may receive a Server SSL Certificate Rejected window. Click Yes to save the certificate and proceed.
