MASSMAIL: General Information

General information about MASSMAIL, mail which goes out to the entire faculty/staff population of campus (more or less):

  • MASSMAIL takes around an hour to go out, due to the size of the list;
  • The MASSMAIL list is actually a series of ~ 20 lists of addresses, which are gone through sequentially. You may be on list 10, while a co-worker may be on list 18, so you may see it a while before them (or vice-versa);
  • MASSMAIL is populated from the campus personnel database, so if you are a standard University employee, you'll be on the list. Keeping in mind that some employees are paid from grants, foundations, are volunteers, etc., not everyone may receive MASSMAIL;
  • If, given the time frame above, you are certain you did not receive a MASSMAIL mailing that others have received, you should contact the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Help Desk.
