Printing From Pine

If printing to an Open Workstation Lab (OWL) printer, press the % Key to print. For local printers, this page will explain how to print from Pine to your printer.

  1. Once you are in your Pine account, select the message that you would like to print. With the mail message highlighted, press e on your keyboard to bring up the export command.
  2. Here, you are prompted to save this mail message as a text file. The file will ultimately need to be in your public directory. This can be accomplished with one command as shown below.

    Pine Window

Note: the designation of  ../pub/  will place the file  "test.txt" in your public directory.
  3. Once you have saved the file, you will need to open your web browser, Internet Explorer or Firefox, to view the file. The site that you need to go will look as follows:

    http://www.terpconnect.umd.edu/~yourid/filename

  4. You can now click on the print icon on your web browser to print the mail message.
