Printer Requirements

Printers currently being used

• HP 4SI/MX
• HP 5SI/MX
• HP4000 -- used in smaller labs

Printers are accessed using the TCP/IP protocols; they must operate in PostScript mode.

Required PJL Feature Support

The printer must have PJL feature support for:

• JOB
  • START
  • END
• USTATUS
  • DEVICE
  • PAGE
  • JOB
• INFO PAGECOUNT
• the printer must return EOJ after a file is printed, not after it is finished being sent to the printer.

These features are useful, but not required:

• INFO ID
• CPLOCK

HP Printers that have been tested and do not support these PJL commands:

• HP 3 SI and printers earlier than this.
• Color Laserjet 5
