Sound on the Sun Stations

It is, however, possible to play audio CD's using the internal CD-ROM drive through a set of headphones attached to the headphone jack on the front of the CD-ROM drive. This can be accomplished using the X-Windows 'xmcd' command. Open a console window and at the prompt type:

xmcd &

You may also select the "MUSIC" icon from the icon bar in the low right hand corner of your desktop to active xmcd. The interface operates in an identical manner to an actual CD player with the traditional play, pause, stop and change track buttons.

For more information on inserting and ejecting CD's from the internal CD-ROM drive, please see the section on the SUN SPARCstation CD-ROM Drive.
