How to Setup Mac OS X 10.3 and 10.4 for Dormitory or Roaming Ethernet

  1. Click on the Apple menu on the top-left corner of the screen and select System Preferences.

  2. Click on the Network icon located on the Internet & Network section.

  3. After the Network Preferences window opens, click the pop-up menu next to Show: and select Built-in Ethernet.

  4. Click on the TCP/IP button.

  5. Click on the pop-up menu next to Configure IPv4: and select Using DHCP.

    Note: If Using DHCP is not available, click on the PPPoE button and uncheck Connect using PPPoE. Now go back to the TCP/IP button.

  6. In the DNS Servers: box, type 128.8.74.2 and 128.8.76.2.

  7. In the Search Domains: box, type umd.edu.

  8. Click on the Apply Now button.
