Important: Please follow all steps to ensure proper installation

Uninstalling an Existing VPN Client

If you have a VPN client currently installed on your computer, it is necessary to remove it to avoid potential conflicts. If you do not have a prior VPN installation, go to Installing VPN Client 5.x on Windows Vista

  1. Terminate any VPN connection and exit the program.
  2. Select Start Menu, Control Panel, and then Programs and Features.
  3. Click once to highlight your current VPN software in the program list and an Uninstall option will appear in the menu above the program list (see figure below).
  4. Click Uninstall (you will be prompted with instructions on how to remove the program)
  5. Restart your computer when the process has completed.

Installing VPN Client 5.x On Windows Vista

  1. Quit all programs that may be currently running.
  2. Click on the VPNVista.exe link to download the VPN Client
  3. Open the downloaded file.

    Run As Administrator

    • Use the mouse to right-click the file if you are asked to run this as the Administrator.
    • Click the left mouse button on Run as Administrator.
    • Click Yes to continue if you see the warning message below.

    • If another warning message pops up from Vista warning you that an unidentified program wants access, click Allow to proceed.
  4. Click on Unzip to extract the installation files to C:\Users\[Your User Name*]\AppData\Local\Temp when the WinZip Self-Extractor program appears.
    • *Your User Name refers to the name you use to login to your computer
  5. Click OK for confirmation of the unzipped files. You will receive a notice that 2 files were unzipped successfully.
  6. Double-click the Computer icon and navigate to: C:\Users\[Your User Name]\AppData\Local\Temp
  7. Open the following file: vpnclient-win-msi-5.0.00.0340-k9.exe**.
    • It will most likely be at the bottom of a long list of items. You may have to Run as Administrator (see Step 3 above).
    • **The version number may vary slightly with subsequent updates

  8. Click Unzip to extract the files and begin the installation process.
  9. Click OK.
  10. Click Next on the installation window.
  11. Read and accept the license agreement by selecting the I accept button
  12. Click Next.
  13. Click Next again. The installation process will begin.
  14. When installation is successful, a window will appear.
  15. Click Finish.
  16. Click Yes to restart your computer to finish the installation process
  17. The VPN client will be ready to use once you have restarted your computer.
