Adjusting Cell Size in Spreadsheets

Adjusting column or row size:

In both Excel and Quattro Pro, move the pointer to a cell row or column boundary in the gray bar that labels the cells (The bar that has A, B, C... for the column or 1, 2, 3... for the rows). The pointer will change to a split double arrow as shown below. Hold down the button and adjust the size of the cell.

Double Split Arrow

Automatic adjusting of column or row size to minimum value:

In Excel, to get the column or row size to be the minimum needed to view all values in the cells, place the pointer over the cell boundary in the column or row heading border. When the pointer changes to a split double arrow, double click the left mouse button. In Quattro Pro, select the entire column or a cell in the column and select the Fit button: spreadsheet fit button. There is no way in Quattro to change the row height to the minimum possible value. Use the other methods of height adjustment.

Specific adjustment of rows or columns:

In Excel, all the adjustment options are under the Format menu. For Quattro Pro, select a group of rows or columns and do a right click to get a menu. Select Block Properties ->Row Height/Column Width. If in Quattro the default column width needs to be changed, right click on the current page tab:

spreadsheet tabs

A menu will appear and then select Default Width.

**** or #### displayed in a cell: If the cell is not wide enough to display its contents, a ***** in Quattro Pro, or a #### in Excel will be there instead. To fix this, just make the cell wide enough to show the information.
