Using Transmit 3.6 For SFTP In MAC OS X

Transmit 3.6.x is an SFTP application for Macintosh OS X 10.3.9 and later. It provides a secure interface for transferring files between your computer and a remote system, such as TerpConnect.

If you do not have a copy of Transmit, you can download it from Panic's website.

  1. Double click on the Transmit icon to launch the program.

  2. The Transmit interface will appear.

  3. In the Server: field, type in the name of the remote system you want to connect to, such as: terpconnect.umd.edu.

  4. In the User Name: field, type in your Directory ID.

  5. In the Password: field, type in your Directory password.

  6. For TerpConnect, the Initial Path: and Port: fields are optional.

  7. Set the Protocol: drop-down menu to SFTP.

  8. Click the Connect button.

  9. When you have successfully connected, files on your local computer will appear on the left side of the window and files on the remote system will appear on the right side of the window.

  10. At this point, you can navigate through directories on both your local computer and the remote system. To transfer files, drag files from one side of the window to the other side of the window.

  11. Logout by clicking the Disconnect icon.
