The process of redirecting messages before they clutter your Inbox is
called "filtering." You can create and maintain message filter
criteria so you can direct messages to specific folders that are already
created on your local or hard drive and based upon the
Sender, Subject, or To
address.
The upside of storing your e-mail on your local drive is that your e-mail
account will use less space and load quickly onto your system. The
downside of storing e-mail on your local drive is that the e-mail can
only be accessed while you are working at that computer. If you are
using a laptop, retrieving local e-mail is not a problem. If you are
using a desktop you may want to make sure that any files or e-mails you
need are stored on the e-mail system and not local to your computer.
