Printing Messages in Pine

Pine provides three options for printing (the one you use depends on the computer and printer you are using). The following instructions are for the standard printing option, printing to the printer which is attached to LPT1 on a PC/compatible or which shows up in a print dialog box when you choose Print from the Mac File Menu.

  1. Log into the system that contains the message you would like to print.
  2. Start Pine by typing pine at the command prompt.
  3. At the Main Menu, push I to get to the Message Index.

  4. The command to print is %, which can be issued in the Message Index, when the correct message is highlighted:

or when you are viewing the correct message:

  5. You are asked to confirm your choice. Follow the instructions.

If your message prints, then you are set. However, if your message does not print, you should read our page on troubleshooting Pine printing problems.
