Where does pine print?

Pine can print in three different ways, which you can choose from pine's Main Menu using the S(etup) and then P(rinter) commands:

attached-to-ansi This refers to the printer attached to your terminal -- generally the printer which is attached to LPT1 on a PC/compatible or which shows up in a print dialog box when you choose Print from the Mac File Menu.
lpr printer Wherever print jobs come out when you issue the "lpr" command from your email account -- for the OIT Unix accounts, this is the big fanfold high-speed laser printer on campus at OIT Dispatch in the AV Williams Building, room 1299.
a network printer For instance, if you regularly use qpr to print files, you can specify qpr -q queue-name for this item -- again, this is only appropriate on campus.

The first way -- i.e., on the printer which is attached to your own computer, is generally the recommended way, if you have a printer attached to your computer.
