The following page describes how to set up Roles in Pine-4.10. The setup of
roles consist of three four basic parts, a name, a pattern to search for in the
header of the message, information to insert into the message, and settings for
what type of operations to apply the role to.
-
Type "m" to select the main menu in pine.
-
Type "s" to select the Setup option from the main menu.
-
Type "r" to select the roles section.
-
Type "a" to add a role.

In the following screen, you will see the role setup fields.
The setup is similar to the screen that you would see if you
select the Config option under the Setup menu item and functions
in the same way.
Above is a sample role. Start by hitting Enter on the first field.
Enter a name for the Nickname field and hit Enter again.
-
Now determine the pattern to be used in choosing the role. A blank
field is considered a match, thus if all fields are left blank
then that role will be used as the default role.
-
In the next section, determine what you want to be added to
the outgoing message with this role.
-
In the last sections determine how/when you want the role to
respond when sending replies and/or forwards.
