You can use Alpine to send an attachment along with your e-mail.
However, the file must be located within the home directory
of your account. To transfer a file from a local computer to
your remote account (TerpConnect/Glue) you must use a
Secure File Transfer Protocol (SFTP)
client.
-
Log into your TerpConnect/Glue account and start Alpine.
-
Once you are in the Alpine main menu select C to compose a
message and fill in the To: field and the
Cc: field if you need to, otherwise skip
down to the Attchmnt: field. Once you have reached the
Attchmnt: field, type CTRL+J .

-
Once you have released both keys, a message appears at
the bottom of the screen. The message reads: File to
attach:. If you know the name of the file you wish
to attach, type it in and press return.
NOTE: files with names that have spaces
within the filename cannot be attached. A file named My
resume.doc cannot be attached, but a
file named My_resume.doc or My-resume.doc
CAN be attached.

If you do not know the name of the file, type CTRL+T.
The display will change from composing a message to a list of
all the file in your home directory. You use the arrow keys
to scroll up, down, left, and right to highlight the file
desired to be attached. Once the file is highlighted, press
the S key to select the file.

-
The file is now selected and regardless of which of the
two methods were used to select the file, a message,
Attach comment should appear. This can be left
blank, or a short message can be typed in. The purpose of the
message would be primarily to describe the file being
attached. For example if the file being attached is a resume,
the message typed could be:
"This is my resume in MS WORD format." Then press enter to
select the file.
-
A message appears at the bottom of the screen confirming
that the file has been attached. the Attchmnt:
field is filled in with information about the attached file.

-
Fill in the subject line and type a message in the body
if wanted.
-
To attach more files to the same email you must do it
one-by-one following the instructions above.
