Information On The WAM / Glue Consolidation

As part of the Office of Information Technology's (OIT) ongoing efforts to enhance the computing environment at the university and to provide the most user-friendly services for the community, we will be retiring the Workstations At Maryland (WAM) system by the end of this summer. The functionality of the WAM system (e-mail, file storage, Web page hosting, etc.) will be transferred to other university systems such as Mail@umd.edu and Glue. This change will not affect users' logins or file access in OIT's computer labs.

In addition to a simpler IT structure, other system improvements are also being planned and will be released to the University community in phases.

More information about these changes will be forthcoming. Those with WAM accounts will be contacted about how these plans will affect your personal WAM account. Those without WAM accounts can watch for announcements about the new services that will be available and how you can take advantage of them.

For a list of frequently asked questions (and answers), consult the WAM / Glue Consolidation FAQ.
