Restoring Files Based on Search Criteria with Tivoli

  1. Open the TSM Client
  2. Enter your TSM password. To change your password, see Changing Your TSM Password
  3. Expand the directory tree under File Level
  4. Continue to expand the directory tree to the desired level.
  5. Select Edit/Find from the menu. The File Files window is displayed
  6. Enter your search criteria in the Find Files window. If using wildcards in the name, on the drop-down menu next to Name, select "matches mask". In the edit box to the right of "matches mask", enter the filter (e.g s*doc for all .doc files that begin with the letter s).
  7. Click Filter
  8. Click Cancel to close the window. The directory tree displays directories containing files that match your criteria. Once a filter has been set, nothing will appear on the Directory-Tree Window that shows that a filter is active. The filter will remain in place until the Directory-Tree Window is closed and re-opened.
  9. Click the selection boxes next to the files you want to restore, or click the selection box next to the directory name to select all files that matched your criteria.
  10. Click Restore. The Restore Destination window displays.
  11. Select whether to restore the file to the original location or to specify a new location. If specifying a new location, enter the information for the new destination directory.
  12. Click Restore. The Restore Task List window displays the restore processing status. The restore procedure may take a few minutes to allow time for the appropriate tape to be located and read.

When the restore procedure is complete, a "Detailed Status Report" will be given, listing the bytes transferred, the number of objects restored, and the number of objects that failed to restore.
