Welcome to Backups at the University of Maryland, College Park. We are

recovery needs. Backups at University of Maryland utilizes IBM's Tivoli
Storage Manager (TSM). IBM boasts an early entry into the storage
management market, releasing its product, then known as ADSM, in 1993.
TSM's history on the market and its backing by a major player in the IT
industry endorses TSM's success and reliability in data storage
management.
Tivoli Storage Manager's provides Backup and Recovery Management across a
wide range of platforms, scaling from laptops to mainframes, and
implements a consistent management interface for easy management at the
customer-level. TSM backs up only new and changed files, having no
dependence on "full backups" as is true of many other backup solutions.
The TSM methodology reduces the amount of data being managed, as well as
reducing the time and bandwidth taken to transfer data from the customer
