How to Request Backup Service

Thank you for choosing Tivoli Storage Manager for your backup solution. We believe TSM is the best data integrity solution for the University of Maryland and its resources. It is our intent to provide a cost effective solution that will fit your business needs as well as protecting the University's data as our computing infrastructure continues to grow.

Following, you will find three documents necessary to complete the process of registering your system with Enterprise Storage Services and getting your system and its valuable data backed up.

  1. The Service Level Agreement is an agreement between OIT and its customers to determine who is responsible for specific procedures. This document may be updated as needed to reflect special arrangements that apply in specific cases.

  2. The Data Retention Form. This form recommends several levels of coverage that we are currently offering. It is important that we keep your data for the amount of time that best suits your department's requirements.

  3. The Node Registration form. This form describes your machine, contact information, billing information, etc.

All of these forms are part of the model we are building and refining during this initial rollout. We intend to work towards making these forms automated in the future, eliminating the need for paper transfers. Also, this deployment of TSM is a work in progress that we will continue to enhance to ensure that any special circumstances are addressed.
