Printing Problems

  1. The first thing to do is check the printer queue name against this list, to make sure that it is a Deans printer.
  2. If it is a Deans Printer, contact the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Help Desk.
  3. If it is not on the list, double-check what the printer queue name is.
  4. There are other Unix printer queues. You can check to see if it is a Unix print queue by typing in the following command at a Glue command prompt:
    hesinfo QUEUE_NAME qhost

This command should come back to with the hostname of the computer that hosts the printer queue.
  5. If you do get a hostname, contact the OIT Help Desk.
  6. If you get "hesiod_resolve: Hesiod name not found." you are probably not dealing with a Unix printer queue. Call the OIT Help Desk.
