Configuring the Terminal program in Mac OS 10.3 and 10.4 for WAM, Glue and Deans

For the Terminal program in Mac OS 10.3 and 10.4 to function properly while you are connected to WAM, Glue or Deans you must first configure the client.

  1. Launch the Terminal program. Click the Terminal menu and select Preferences....
  2. A Terminal Preferences window will open. Select the radio button next to the Execute this command (specify complete path): field.
  3. In the Execute this command (specify complete path): field, type: /bin/tcsh.
  4. Select vt100 from the drop-down menu next to the Declare terminal type ($TERM) as: field.

  5. Close the Terminal Preferences window.
  6. Click the Terminal menu and select Quit Terminal.
  7. Re-launch the Terminal program. You will now be able to properly connect to WAM, Glue or Deans.

Configuring the Terminal program in Mac OS 10.5 for WAM, Glue and Deans

For the Terminal program in Mac OS 10.5 to function properly while you are connected to WAM, Glue or Deans you must first configure the client.

  1. Launch the Terminal program. Click the Terminal menu and select Preferences....
  2. A Terminal Preferences window will open. Click on the Startup icon
  3. In the Shells open with: option
    • select the radio button command (complete path):
    • in the field below it, type: /bin/tcsh

  4. Click on the Settings icon.
  5. Select vt100 from the drop-down menu next to the Declare terminal as: field.

  6. Close the Terminal Preferences window.
  7. Click the Terminal menu and select Quit Terminal.
  8. Re-launch the Terminal program. You will now be able to properly connect to WAM, Glue or Deans. For information about how to connect to WAM or Glue using SSH, see Use SSH with Terminal.
