Step 2: Acquire Free UM Software

There are several software programs that are available for free to UMCP faculty, staff, and students (due to licensing deals managed by the OIT Software Licensing office). You can either download the software or purchase the software on CD (each CD costs $10 each) from the Software Licensing office.

The following is a list of the software available. Please note that before you are allowed to download the software, you will be required to provide your UM Directory ID and password (if you are unfamiliar with your UM Directory ID and password, please visit the UM Directory website to learn what your ID is and to set up your Directory password).

If you wish to download the software to your new computer once it arrives, we suggest that you either bookmark or print this page for future reference.

Step 3: Acquire Microsoft Products (faculty, staff, TAs, and GAs only)

As part of the Microsoft Enterprise Agreement negotiated by the OIT Software Licensing office, UMCP faculty and staff (including teaching assistants and graduate assistants) are eligible to purchase certain Microsoft products (such as Microsoft Office) at drastically reduced prices. These products can be purchased for use on personal/home computers as part of a "work at home" license.

To learn more about the Microsoft Enterprise Agreement and how you can acquire these Microsoft products through the agreement, visit the link below (you may wish to print this page as a reference):
