Setting Up Entourage 2004 to Access the University Directory

You can configure Entourage 2004 to use the University Directory service to find the correct e-mail address for a university faculty/staff member when you are composing an e-mail message. To do this, follow the steps below:

1. Launch Entourage 2004. On the menu bar, click on the Tools tab, and then choose Accounts.

   

2. In the Accounts window, click on the Directory Service tab.

   

3. Click the New button.

4. An Edit Account window will appear. Click on the Account Settings tab and type in the following information:

   • Account Name: UM Directory
   • LDAP server: directory.umd.edu

   

5. Click on the Options tab and type in the following information:

   • Search base: dc=umd,dc=edu

   

6. Click the OK button.

7. Click the red button in the upper left corner to close the Accounts window.

8. Entourage is now configured to use the Directory service.

To begin using the service, start a new e-mail message. In the TO: field, type in the full name of the University person for whom you are searching. Start composing your message. After a few moments, the UM Directory will answer Entourage's request for information about that person, and the name you entered will be replaced by the name and e-mail address of that person.
