Subscribe to an individual
open notice or alert
You can subscribe to any current open OIT alert via our IT Service
Center. These alerts are referred to in that system as Global
Incidents.
To view and subscribe to Global Incidents:
- Go to the IT Service
Center.
If there are one or more OIT notices and alerts currently
open, a
pop-up window will appear. You will need to disable
your
pop-up blocker on this page in order to subscribe in this
way.
- If a window did not pop up when you followed the above link,
then
select
Global Incidents on the IT Service Center
Toolbar.
- To view the full description of a Global Incident, click the
Title.
- To subscribe to a Global Incident, select
Subscribe.
You will be prompted to login. If this is your first time
logging
into the IT Service Center you will need to create an account
by
clicking "New Users Sign Up Here". You will be asked for your
University Directory (LDAP) username and password.
- Once you are subscribed to a Global Incident, it is listed
with
your Requests when you are logged into the IT Service Center.
You
will receive e-mail updates as the Global Incident is updated
and
eventually resolved. You can view the latest status at any
time
under View My Requests.

Subscribe to open notices
and
alerts via RSS feed
The OIT Notices and Alerts RSS feed sends out information about
current alerts to any RSS feed reader. There is an RSS reader
built
into the Firefox browser. If you are using Firefox, you can
subscribe
to this feed by clicking the link below. No login is required.
When
you subscribe, the RSS feed will appear by default in your
bookmarks
toolbar of your Firefox browser. If you wish to subscribe to the
RSS
feed with a different RSS reader, the direct feed link you will
need
to enter into your RSS reader is
http://my.umd.edu/footprints-rss-ws/oit-alerts.do. For more
information on RSS feeds you can search the web or click
here.

Subscribe to all notices and
alerts via e-mail
If you would like to sign up to receive an e-mail whenever there
is an OIT Alert, or an update to an OIT alert, simply send an e-mail from
*your* e-mail address to
listserv@listserv.umd.edu with subscribe ITSC-Alert in the e-mail
body. The listserv will ignore the subject line. You will need to reply to
a confirmation e-mail to activate your subscription.
Unsubscribe to all notices
and alerts via e-mail
To stop receiving these e-mails, send an e-mail from *your*
e-mail address to
listserv@listserv.umd.edu with unsubscribe ITSC-Alert in the e-mail
body. The listserv will ignore the subject line. You will need to reply
to a confirmation e-mail to deactivate your subscription.
