The Office of Information Technology (OIT) has begun implementation of an
IT Service Management (ITSM) project based on the IT Infrastructure Library
(ITIL), the de facto standard for delivering and supporting services in the
IT industry around the world. On Thursday, March 12, 2009, we will begin
using new software to improve our ability to log and respond to requests
for assistance. When you contact the OIT Help Desk or other OIT offices,
you may hear about the IT Service Center and receive e-mail from a new
address: itsc@umd.edu. In the coming months, we will be announcing additional
enhancements as part of our IT Service Center.
