How to Connect to TerpConnect Using Integrated WebDAV in Windows Vista

The following steps will guide you through the brief process of installing the WebDAV client for Windows Vista.

Windows Vista has a builtin WebDAV client. To access it do the following:

  1. Open Computer
  2. Near the top of the window, click Map network drive

  3. Click on the link Connect to a Web site that you can use to store your documents and pictures
  4. This will start the Add Network Location Wizard
  5. Click Next
  6. At the query Where do you want to create this network location? select Choose a custom network location
  7. Click Next and enter the URL for the WebDAV server:
    • For your home folder: https://dav.terpconnect.umd.edu/homes/<your Directory ID>
    • For your pub folder: https://dav.terpconnect.umd.edu/pub/<your Directory ID>
    • Example: https://dav.terpconnect.umd.edu/homes/joanyuser

    Add Network Location

  8. Note: The security certificate warnings shown below may not appear on your screen. If one appears it is a warning that you are connecting to a site you have not visited before and the security certificate for that page is not in your browser. Once you connect the certificate will automatically download.

  9. Enter your Directory ID and password in the username and password fields
  10. Click OK

    Connect to dav.terpconnect.umd.edu
