How to Connect to TerpConnect Using WebDAV in Windows XP

The following steps will guide you through the brief process of installing the WebDAV client for Windows XP.

  1. Download and install WebDAV Software http://www.helpdesk.umd.edu/software/webdav/
    • Click on the Microsoft Windows link; this will take you to an authenticated login and allow you to download the software.
  2. Once WebDrive is installed you need to Active the program:
    • Launch the WebDrive client by going to Start then All Programs
    • Click Activate license automatically over the Internet radio button
    • Click the Activate button
    • A window opens that requires a registration code. The registration_code file is located in the WebDrive download. Copy the registration code into the registration code field
    • Click Next
    • Click Activate

  3. Click New Site button
  4. Enter the descriptive name for the new site you're creating (e.g., TerpDav)
  5. Click Next

  6. Choose WebDAV as the Server type
  7. Click Next and enter the URL for The WebDAV server:
    • For your home folder: https://dav.terpconnect.umd.edu/homes/<your Directory ID>
    • For your pub folder: https://dav.terpconnect.umd.edu/pub/<your Directory ID>
    • Example: https://dav.terpconnect.umd.edu/homes/joanyuser
  8. Click the check box Connect Securely
  9. Click Next

    Server Address

  10. Select a drive letter to use (any not currently in use)
  11. Click Next
  12. Enter your Directory ID and password
  13. Click Next

  14. Click the check box Connect to site now
  15. Click Finish

In a few moments, a window should pop up with the descriptive name from step 4 such as:

    AFS Space on TerpConnect or TerpDav on 'Webdrive' (W:)

The window will contain all the files and directories from your TerpConnect home directory. You can now navigate as you normally would in Windows.
