On March 1, 2008, the Office of Information Technology (OIT) Help Desk
ended
support for all Netscape web browsers and e-mail clients. This coincided with
the date on which AOL ended support for Netscape and discontinued software
updates for all versions of this software. As of this termination date,
AOL
no longer issues updates or security patches for Netscape. See AOL's

AOL originally planned to terminate Netscape as of February 1, 2008. This
deadline was extended to March 1, 2008:

The OIT Help Desk recommends that users of Netscape begin using other
OIT-supported web browsers and e-mail clients.
Windows users are encouraged to use Firefox, SeaMonkey, or Internet
Explorer
for web browsing and Thunderbird, SeaMonkey, or Outlook/Outlook
Express/Windows
Mail for e-mail clients.
Macintosh users are encouraged to use Firefox, SeaMonkey, or Safari for
web
browsing and Thunderbird, SeaMonkey or the Apple Mail application for e-mail
clients.
