Getting Started With Mail@UMD

Mail@umd is the new e-mail service offered at the University. Students, faculty and staff affiliated with the University can sign up for these accounts. If you are a new student, faculty, or staff at the University or have never had a University mail account, visit http://www.oit.umd.edu/new to activate your account.

To log in to your Mail@umd account, you must use your Directory ID and password.

• To find your Directory ID, visit: https://www.directory.umd.edu/password?searchbyumid
• To set your Directory password, visit: https://www.directory.umd.edu/password

There are several ways to retrieve mail from your Mail@umd account.

• To read your mail with a web browser such as Internet Explorer or Firefox, visit: https://mail.umd.edu/
• For information about configuring a graphical mail client such as Outlook Express or Thunderbird to read your mail visit: http://www.helpdesk.umd.edu/topics/email/systems/mailatumd/
• For information about configuring a text-only client such as Pine to read your mail visit: http://www.helpdesk.umd.edu/topics/email/systems/mailatumd/4165
